National policy for women empowerment in India

 


 What is Women empowerment?

Women empowerment means giving woman equal status of opportunity as a man along with pay and benefits. They must not get hindered  by physical limitations. As technology is growing , jobs are becoming less physical. Most of the work has moved to remote based in times of covid era. Women are also required to be supported to handle their own babies. Modi government is working for Women empowerment in India. 

In Chhatisgarh, the 'Mahatari Vandan Yojana' state works for women empowerment. This scheme provides Rs 1000 monthly to ladies. This will help them to get nutritious diet along with their children. Financial inclusion of ladies is a secret motive behind this scheme. To avail this scheme one needs an Aadhaar card along with Id identity. It also requires a bank account to receive the amount along with bank account linked to Aadhaar. DBT(Direct Benefit Transfer) shall be activated on the bank account.

In Jammu and Kashmir, a special cell has been created by name of J&K and Ladakh Cell. It has following responsibilities-

1.    Look into the complaints of women received from these UTs and to redress the grievances received from women of these regions
2.    Coordinate all activities for addressing issues concerning women in the UTs J&K and Ladakh including special problems/challenges and to take initiatives for their development and empowerment.
3.    All matters relating to seminars/workshops/consultation/research studies/legal awareness programmes.
4.    Organize meetings and conferences with various stakeholdes to discuss the challenges faced by the women in these regions.

In Haryana, following points are important

  1. Women Helpline Number 181- 24 * 7 helpline for redressal of grievances like harrasment , eve teasing and more.
  2. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao- Scheme for girl child education and improve gender ratio in the state.Girl shall be of atleast 10 years of age.
  3. Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandhana Yojna- A scheme to provide Rs 5000 cash for pregnant and lactating women . The objective is to support the women for wages compensation during maternity period which will ensure good health of first living child . Mother will also get a gap between birth of children.
  4. Aapki Beti Hamari Beti- An incentive of Rs21000 will be invested as LIC for first girl child of SC/BPL family and second girl child of any caste. Third girl child is covered as well.
  5. Onestop Centre- One stop centre to handle all the cases of violence against women.
  6. State Resource Centre for Women- This helps to implement schemes and policies at state level through effective coordination.
  7. Working Women Hostel- As women are coming out of house in search of employment, they need support in form of accomodation.
  8. Kishori Shakti Yojna- A scheme to promote education of girls and make them marry after 18 years of age. This policy also aims to provide them with knowledge about environmental related issues so that they may contribute to society as well.
  9. Compensation Scheme for Women Victims/survivors of sexual assault/other crimes -2018
  10. Kanya Kosh- This is a bank account for donation for women empowerment .
  11. Scheme for Relief and Rehabilitation of Women Acid Victims- A scheme under which 1 Lac as a compensation of the attack within 15 days.
  12. Improving Infant & Young Child feeding.

UP policy for women empowerment

  1. Mukhyamantri kanya sumangla yojana- Scheme to prevent child foeticide and discrimination against women.
  2. Mission Shakti- Help protect women's rights. 
  3. Grant scheme of marriage- Such parents whose annual income is less than 56000 in urban and 48000 in rural area can avail this scheme. They get an amount of Rs 20000 directly into their account. This is received within 90 days before and 90 days after filing of application. Process is as follows  

Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana Uttar Pradesh 2021

  • This scheme is a mass marriage scheme for Uttar Pradesh.
  • All the economically weaker sections of UP and the families of BPL category can take advantage of this scheme.
  • The poor and widowed and divorced women of the society can get full benefits of this scheme.
  • Wedding dress and 'bichhiya' (toe ring) etc. will be provided to poor families.
  • The marriage will take place in presence of the District Magistrate.

MP policy for women empowerment

  1. Chief Minister women's empowerment scheme- Women are protected from murder, violence, harrasment, sexual vioence, sexual harrasment.
  2. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao-Girl child should be atleast 10 years of age. This scheme takes care of education and sex ratio of girl child.
  3. Indira Gandhi Disabled Pension Scheme- Any disabled having critical injuries over 80%, is given support through this scheme. Age should be 18-79 years. He/She shall be below poverty line to get the benefits.
  4. Indira Gandhi Window Pension Scheme- Aged between 40-79 years, widows below poverty line can avail benefit of this scheme.
  5. Chief Minister Kanya Vivah Yojana- 17000, 3000 for basic expense
